The Pentucket Bank Charitable Foundation has donated $5,000 to the Essex County Habitat for Humanity to support the construction of a duplex in Haverhill’s Mount Washington neighborhood. Once completed, the duplex will provide permanently affordable homeownership opportunities to two hardworking families, each with a three-bedroom unit secured through Habitat’s home lottery process.
Habitat for Humanity works to help build and improve homes for families of low-income or disadvantaged backgrounds. Homes are built using volunteer labor, including that of Habitat homeowners through the practice of sweat equity, as well as paid contractors for certain construction or infrastructure activities as needed. Habitat makes no profit from the sales.
“Habitat for Humanity plays a vital role in addressing our affordable housing shortage,” said Pentucket Bank President and CEO Steve Jaskelevicus. He further noted, “Through its innovative approach, Habitat works with low-income families, volunteers, and others in our community to create a lasting impact on individuals and neighborhoods. We are very proud to support their efforts.”
