Employee Benefits

We offer a broad range of benefits designed to enhance the total compensation package of each valued team member of our staff:
  • Benefits: Optimal health is an integral part of promoting a healthy culture. Employees have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance for themselves and their dependents.
  • Cafeteria Plans: We offer a variety of plans to employees such as Dependent Care Accounts, Health Care Savings Accounts, and Flexible Spending Accounts, which provide pre-tax savings benefits and aid in covering eligible out of pocket medical expenses.
  • Short Term Disability/Long Term Disability (eligibility based on hours worked): we offer income continuation protection during periods of approved medical disability.
  • PFML: We provide time off to eligible employees who qualify for paid family and medical leave (“PFML”) benefits. You may be eligible for income benefits during this leave through the Bank’s private plan. Length of leave varies between up to 12-20 weeks dependent on the qualifying reason.
  • Time away from work: We offer a variety of options such as Paid Time Off and Holidays to help employees balance work, life, and everything in between.
  • Volunteer Time Off: we want to foster a culture of employees who are committed to impacting and supporting the communities in which we live and work. We provide employees with 16 hours of volunteer time annually that can be used during the workday to give back to our communities.
  • Wellness: In addition to great healthcare coverage, we also offer Fitness and Weight Loss reimbursements, wellness discounts offered by our local partners and informative webinars.
  • Employee Assistance Program: we offer employees access to mental health resources including online and in person counseling through our Employee Assistance program, available 24/7.
  • Work from Home Policy: We believe a critical part of our culture is the way we work together and support each other to benefit our customers and our communities. Therefore, the goal of our WFH policy is to balance the convenience of working from home and the business needs of the organization. A regularly scheduled WFH arrangement will be limited to one day a week for any eligible employee. Exceptions to this policy may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Cross functional training: Professional growth and development are a priority for us. We believe that employees who continuously learn and develop are more productive and engaged in the work they do. We offer a shared resource, cross functional training program that allows employees to explore and experience working in departments outside of their work group. This model increases opportunities for employee advancement, promotion from within, and retention.
  • Career Mentoring: We are committed to embrace a diverse and inclusive culture that promotes personal and professional development. Our mentoring program creates relationships among employees by encouraging the development and transfer of knowledge to maximize employee potential, assimilate employees into our culture, and support the Banks recruitment and retention efforts.
  • Ongoing Learning: Through our Learning & Development program, we provide a variety of opportunities to promote and develop learning paths that help employees increase their knowledge and skills on a continuous basis. We employ a blended learning approach using both instructor-led sessions and digital/online self-paced classes.
  • Financial Wellbeing: In addition to competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits, we also invest in educating our employees on long term financial wellness. Through our partnership with SBERA, we offer trainings throughout the year to ensure our employees are on track and investing properly for retirement.
  • 401(k): Through our own 401k, we provide employees with a three-tiered Bank contribution including:
  • Non - Elective Contribution of 3% regardless of whether the employee is contributing to the plan.
  • Safe Harbor Matching Contribution of 100% on the first 3% of employee deferral and 50% on the next 2% of employee deferral.
  • Annual Discretionary Contribution voted by the Board of Directors each year (between 0 - 4%).
  • Tuition Reimbursement: To help you advance your career, Newburyport Bank offers a tuition reimbursement to help offset the cost of courses that are related to developing your career.
  • Life Insurance: We offer employer-paid group life insurance coverage to employees working 30 or more hours.
  • Pet Insurance: we offer discounted pet insurance group rates through Nationwide Insurance.
  • Voluntary Insurance: We offer supplemental insurance that provides an additional layer of financial protection for employees and their families in the event of a serious accident or illness.
